Graupe(n) means groats or peeled grain (not specifically made out of barley). The word krupiarz means in German Graupener (?), Graupenmüller, Graupenmacher, Graupenhändler. So krupiarz means possibly peeled barley dealer, peeled barley miller, peeled barley maker or perhaps (less specifically) peeled grain dealer, peeled grain miller, peeled grain maker. There were many different methods to process barley. Every region had its own methods. Krupa in one region could possibly mean peeled barley or peeled wheat while in another region it could mean groats (of barley and/or other grains). The names: it seems that before 1709 persons with the surname Krupiarz in Nová L'ubovňa sometimes were mentioned with the surnames Krupa or Krupka. Was that caused by mistakes (unfamilarity ?) or were these surnames considered more or less as synonyms? It is also possible that the name Krupiarz was not well known in Nová L'ubovňa and that it was deliberately 'translated' into Krupa or Krupka. So: some of the Krup(k)a's in records after 1708 were perhaps former Krupiarzes.
